December 2016

Another busy month, starting with Twang! at Seven Miles Out on Friday 2nd December.
Rosemary (on jug) joined Sandra and Mark for a song.

This was closely followed by a return visit by a few of our members to Mount Hall Care Home on Saturday 3rd.

Saturday 10th was our regular monthly visit to The Crown for a pleasant afternoon of jamming.

On Monday 12th we had a Cakes and Crackers party at The Fingerpost.

Tuesday 13th was another return visit, this time to the Knit 'n' Natter group Christmas Party.

Christmas Foodie Friday was on 16th, with instructions to wear Christmas

That's all folks!  Until Monday 2nd January 2017 when we start all over again.

Guess the Intro

Well, something a bit different today.

We started with a 45 minute set, then adjourned to the bar as the quiz got underway.

We were called back for the music round, where we played the intro to ten songs, hopefully well enough for the quiz teams to work out the title of the song.
It seemed to be successful, they definitely recognised La Bamba because they started singing it!

A very enjoyable evening ,  there was even a tab for us at the bar.

A fairly quiet month

After a busy summer we had a quiet September. No public performances  just the regular Monday meetings at The Fingerpost and our monthly visits to Twang! at Seven Miles Out and to The Crown.

On Sunday 16th we returned to The Nelson Tavern for a pleasant afternoon of strumming.

Thanks to Lin for the chip butties!

September Twang!

It is 7.20pm on the second Friday of the month and SUP members are waiting anxiously outside Seven Miles Out, all hoping to bag the best seats for Twang!

Then a car draws up outside - it's John, with the keys!

Everybody hurries inside. And the fun begins!

Another brilliant night at Seven Miles Out.  Only a month to wait until the next Twang!

Twang!

Here is what John from Seven Miles Out said about this amazing evening
"There's a uke revolution going on in Stockport!
A massive thank you to everyone who came to Twang! last night hosted by the Stockport Ukulele Players. It was our biggest turnout yet and it was a blast!
Thanks also to all the amazing performers who sang and played in the Open Mic and especially to lovely Sandra for her fantastic song about Seven Miles Out. We are truly humbled."

The Nelson Tavern

A nice way to spend a Sunday afternoon - strumming at The Nelson Tavern.

Thanks to landlady Lin for inviting us (and for feeding us) and thank you to everyone who sang along - and danced!

June 2016 - Another busy month

This is what we got up to...

Thursday 26th May we performed at a birthday party in New Mills.

Friday 3rd June SUP performed at Stockport  Beer and Cider Festival then met in the evening for Twang! at Seven Miles Out

Saturday 4th June was the Romiley Busk  and for the first time we had sunshine. In fact it was very hot!

Wednesday 8th June was a charity event at The Crown.

Saturday 11th June   was another trip on New Mills Train to the Carnival. It started off well but was unfortunately cut short by heavy rain, which caused a landslide closing the railway line for the return trip. Taxis were required to get home.

Those who did not go on the train met for the usual afternoon session at The Crown.

Saturday 18th June was another visit to Mount Hall, this time for the Summer Fair.

Friday 24th June was another Foodie Friday, with performances by SUP and Dr Uke.

Then, just for good measure, on Saturday 25th Dr Uke performed at Biddulph Ukulele Day
